Grandma's BFFs!

Every once in awhile, on the weekend, Grandma gets a few rather unique visitors.  They're short.  They have trouble sitting still.  They interrupt each other constantly, and I caught one of them picking her nose, once.  These visitors are five little girls who live in the neighborhood.  They come in two's and three's to visit every so often, sometimes just because they're bored, sometimes because their parents forced them outside to play, and ALWAYS when they have something to sell (in September Grandma bought, and promptly pitched, six badly made friendship bracelets for $1 each!)

This latest visit was from a pair who had spent much of the morning painting, and judging from the speckles in their hair and the smudges on their skin would spend much of the afternoon bathing. The chief topic of conversation was "being sick", as in, throwing up. Apparently there was a fast and furious stomach bug racing trough the second grade. Descriptions were lengthy and graphic, each girl trying to be as gross as possible without turning her own stomach. I thought it was hysterical, Grandma looked like she was going to Be Sick.

The winter went by with very few visits from The Girls. Occasionally Grandma would stare wistfully out the window and remark, "I wonder what The Little Girls are up to?" It was cold and snowy and everybody was traveling over the Holidays; Grandma's prepubescent play dates were few and far between. In the last month, however, two things happened that sparked MANY visits from The Girls: 1) The Spring Thaw. Parents are shoving their kids outside much more often than before, and in turn those kids come sit inside at Grandma's house, and 2) Girl Scout Cookie Season. Grandma ordered two boxes of cookies from each little girl (they're all in the same Brownie troop), not because she can't live without thin mints, oh no. Grandma ordered so many cookies because after you ORDER the cookies, the cookies must be DELIVERED, ensuring that each little girl had to COME BACK! Two visits from each girl for the bargain price of $2.50 per box, AND you get cookies!!! Brilliant brilliant plan.

So far we only have six boxes of cookies, which means two girls are holding out...
