Vacation ended two days ago. After a few long delays and flights I'm back in Chicago and trailing after Grandma, already floundering in her wake.
Not only was the house a mild disaster when I arrived (dirty glasses everywhere, used tissues stuffed in all the furniture, random condiments on the counters...) Grandma showed no signs of slowing down the damage: after my shower and before my coffee I found the kitchen dusted with flour, Grandma smeared with banana batter, and far more measuring cups and mixing bowls than necessary strewn about. In addition to the early morning bread baking she had laid out a frozen chicken carcass, shining under it's own layer of floury dust... I see soup in my future!
All in all, I hope she gets this out of her system, better now than when I have tons of work to be doing! Although, the house does smell amazing, and as long as it's snowing we may as well be cooking, right?
It's good to be back!
