#2 is Number One

I would like to take a moment and preemptively apologize for the following post.  Nobody needs to know about this.  Enjoy.

There are more products in this house dedicated to regulating a persons bowels than there is any other kind of product.  Including food.

Generally a person has one problem with #2.  Either you go too much or you can't go at all.  In this situation a person would typically need only one intervention, however, a quick survey of the various cabinets and drawers in THIS house revealed over two dozen individual products of BOTH kinds.  The stopping AND starting kinds.

A find of this nature begs the question, what exactly is Grandma up to?  She eats fruit and fiber constantly, starts her day with at least three cups of coffee and drinks prune juice All. Day. Long.  I can imagine, with that intake, she'd need a little Imodium every once in a while, but then, why all the Miralax and Dulcolax and suppositories and enema kits?  Is she perhaps over correcting, and then again in the other direction?  How long has all this been going on?  If you use lots of these kinds of products, do they even WORK anymore?  If I ask these questions, do I really want to sit through the answer? (because I know she'll GLADLY tell me!)

I am mystified, and will (hopefully) remain that way!

  1. Anne, This is really funny to me because my 95 yr. old great grandfather was doing the same things! The doctor told us that when people get old they think if they don't go to the bathroom that it means they're going to die. No joke. AND god forbid they have to try while doing it (can't say I blame 'em everything is harder when you're old and crusty). His biggest problem was (he would mostly take just laxitives) he would forget when he had taken them! So he would overdose (YIKES!) Basically, I would like to think you're grandma is just prepared for any situation :)
